On this day 75 years ago, george harrison was born. ![]() Thank you very much for your ask - and, maybe for the first time ever, I’ve answered this one almost as soon as I received it! I remember when this was released Amazon sent me a 12″ dance DJ’s single instead - I was very disappointed! I’d been waited for months for it - though not as long as we’ve been waiting for Volume 2… I love the acoustic-y version of Woman Don’t You Cry For Me on this and the covers are amazing. If you have any spare cash left for record buying… Early Takes Volume 1 - because I don’t think this album gets shouted about enough. Again, the whole album is brilliant, but I think Any Road is a masterpiece on a par with any Beatles song. It was the posthumous album and George’s last gift to us. I don’t tend to listen to this album very often, but that’s only because of the sad circumstances of its release. This album contain’s perhaps George’s most famous solo hits after My Sweet Lord - When We Was Fab and Got My Mind Set On You, but all the songs on here are great. I have at least six copies of it (and that’s not a joke!)Īll Things Must Pass was George’s first (proper) solo album and Cloud Nine was nearly his last - it was his last solo work until my pick number 3 in a moment. This is George’s opus, it’s his masterpiece and it’s phenomenal. In fact, stop what you’re doing and go out and buy it right now. If you only ever listen to one George solo album, make it this one. George is my beau and I love his solo work, so I could sit here and recommend you his entire back catalogue, but I will limit my suggestions to a taster and a starting place for Harrisong listening… Not a repeat - and feel free to ask anything you like, anytime!
